Exploring Webster's Falls and Spencer Gorge Park

Webster's Falls and Spencer Gorge are about a five minute drive from the parking lot of the Borer's Falls and Rock Chapel Trail, so Teena and I drove over. There are great views of the falls and a really nice park.

From the bridge, you can see the drop off.

A limo pulled up. No, there were no stars but a wedding party.

Teena and I were here many years ago and there was a staircase down to the bottom which was quite spectacular. Sadly, it is now closed.

The current is very swift throughout the park and there are lots of warnings not to go into the river. Anyone who did would be an idiot and likely swept over the falls.

The falls are quite spectacular! This looks like the shot above but was more of a close-up.

Borer's Falls and the Rock Chapel Trail

Today Teena and I drove to Hamilton to do a hike and see some waterfalls. Above is Teena standing by the creek that goes over the edge just behind her and is named Borer's Falls. There is not a great view of it but it is a 15 meter (49.2 ft) falls and is 5 meters (16.4 ft) wide.

Here is a stock photo from the Cascades and Waterfalls of Hamilton website.

My shot of the dropoff

The Borer's Creek Tributary that feeds the falls

Then we were off to explore the Rock Chapel Trail

The trail skirts the heights of the Niagara Escarpment and is part of the Bruce Trail which runs from Niagara Falls to Tobermory on Georgian Bay. There are some great views from up here.

This looks like a maple sugar shack. There was also a look-out hanging over the edge. Photo op!

Armstrong Trail was a side trail off the Rock Chapel Trail that took us down almost to the bottom of the valley floor. We had to take it. It started with steel stairs and then turned into a regular trail. It was a good walk down and back up again!

This was the old set of stairs for the trail. I like the metal ones better.

The trail is well-marked and maps are placed in strategic locations so you always know where you are. Bridges are placed to take hikers over hazardous creeks and dry beds.

The final leg of our hike took us through a grass field to the parking lot. There were lots of birds flying around. Teena shows how high the grass is.

Here is a red winged blackbird. I think Teena thought I made up the name.

It was a great hike, and a great day for it!

J. Cole Concert Pre-concert Lineup at 99 Sudbury

Imagine my surprise as I walked up the street towards home and saw this huge crowd of people at the end of my street.

They were lined up right past our house and I asked someone what was going on and found it it was a pop-up J. Cole concert at 99 Sudbury Street.

Although the crowd was very well-behaved but messy, the area was well-policed with officers on foot, bike and horseback.

I was speaking to a few officers on crowd control and found out there were 400 wristband given out for the concert and an estimated 2,500 people on hand. Only those near the front were getting in. Again, they were all well-behaved but messy.

Oh did I say the kids were messy?

Here is the mess in front of 99 Sudbury. Wouldn't you love to live in a condo across the street from this mess!?

Of course, 99 Sudbury protected their own property. A good corporate neighbor may have had the crowd queue through their parking lot but chose instead to protect it and have the mess be left behind on the street and neighborhood lawns.

99 Sudbury has always been a very poor corporate neighbor and continue to be so.

Anybody hungry? This was left behind on our lawn. We kicked it onto the sidewalk for the seagulls. Thanks again, 99!
