TIFF Excitement

Once again the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) is in town.

I work around Metro Hall and always enjoy the buzz of the festival. Roy Thompson Hall is where the biggest premieres take place and the crowds like to get there early to secure the best spots to see the stars.

Tonight Argo with Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman has it's gala premiere at 6:30pm. I checked at 10:30am and 10 people had already grabbed the best spot, right by the entrance to the red carpet! By 1:30pm, a larger crowd of about 30 had claimed their spots and were not moving.

The red carpet from the entrance.

Inside looking back at the entrance ...

The shows are popular. There have been lineups for tickets starting from the time I arrive at 7:30am to when I go home. At 1:30pm, today the lineup wrapped around the building and then through the queues inside.

At 4:00pm, the crowd expanded to around 100. As the entrance is curved, I could not catch all the people.

I love the excitement of the around David Pecaut Square when the TIFF opens.
