Movie Review - The Avengers

If this weekend has a theme, then so far it would be big, loud movie weekend. Last night Ken and I saw The Avengers. Today it was Battleship. My movie review for it is here.

To say that Ken enjoys this movie would be an understatement. Last night was the eighth time he has seen it since it came out. He likes to see it with people who have not already seen it to see their reaction during the movie and get their comments later.

Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who's who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.

I will say that at 2 hours and 20 minutes, it is never boring. The casting is phenomenal! Ken and I were talking about it afterwards and it is like each actor was born for their role in this movie. I have always loved Robert Downy Jr. and think he suits Tony Stark/Iron Man perfectly. With Chris Hemsworth, you can really believe he is the God Thor. Every movie like this needs a great villain to make it work and Tom Hiddleston really nailed evil in playing Loki.

The movie was fun, funny, action-packed and quite noisy. There is no sleeping through this one!.

Robert Downey Jr. steals every scene he is in. I wonder if the movie would have been near as good if another actor played Iron Man who is a key character in The Avengers. Likely not. I asked Ken and he too feels the same way.

I give this movie and 8/10. It's a movie to be seen on the big screen for sure!

We loved it!! Would totally go back and see it again, just to see that one scene with Hulk and Loki...you know what one....I was wanting a rewind button immediately. I know we'll be buying the DVD when it comes out. :)
