I found found this quiet interesting. There were 238,617 deaths in Canada in 2008. This breaks them down by category.
There were 6 times as many suicides than homicides. I was very surprised at the number of women who died as a result of pregnancy or childbirth. I thought with our advances in medicine this figure would be almost nil.
Cancer and heart still are the big ones accounting for 58% of the countries deaths. Still hoping for the big cancer research break, though.
I also thought that 1,441 people dieing of accidental poisoning was quite high. The breakdowns are worth looking at.
