A Helicopter Tour Around Toronto

Ever since I was 3 or 4, I have always wanted to go on a helicopter. I actually wanted to fly one, along with a many other thousand things but have always thought helicopters were so cool. I can't draw but very early on could draw a old bubble style helicopter. You don't see them these days.

On of my favorite shows in the late 50s was an action/drama, likely a bad one if I saw it today but I loved it then, called the Whirlybirds.

I just loved and dreamed of going up in one. It seemed so expensive for such a short period of time

Today as we did our walk through Ontario Place, Teena thought it would be a great idea to go up. There is a 10 minute flight around the city from Ontario Place by National Helicopters and, next thing I knew, this dream was becoming a reality.

Did I enjoy it? Sure did and it will not be my last flight. It is so different and so worth it. Sandra was a great pilot, she actually spends most of her time as a flight instructor, and it was fun to listen in on all the flight chatter on the radio. Thanks so much, Teena! You have no idea how much I have wanted to do this.

The rest of this will just be more of a photo journal. Teena's shots are here.

Ready to go!

Takeoff and banking towards the city.

The row of roofs on the right side of the tracks is where we live. I always get a childish kick out of seeing our home from the air.

Our 'hood

Our city, Toronto!

I had to take a shot through the floor by the pedals. This is Varsity Stadium.

Toronto by the lake.

Ontario Place. We took off by the top of the island.

A final shot of the city.

Thanks again Teena! You rock so much!
