Heading to Beantown

OK. I'm all packed and ready to go.

This weekend I have a fencing tournament in Boston on Sunday. It's the first time I've had a chance to visit so am heading down a little early. If the weather and Earl stays away, it should be a great weekend, getting a chance to enjoy a few of my passions.

If all goes well, I will land tomorrow around 1pm. A shuttle to the hotel, throw my stuff into the room, then grab the orange line (subway) to Samuel Adams Brewery for a tour. Then it's back to my room, change and out to historic Fenway Park to see the Redsox and Whitesox. Yes, I already have my ticket.

Get up next morning and head to the USS Constitution. For a long time, I have been very interested in the War of 1812 so to see "Old Ironside" will be a thrill even though she was on the other side of the conflict. Undefeated in 5 battles during the war. Impressive.

Then it's off to the outskirts of town to Waltham. Saturday night is a lobster and clam bake, (regular food is available) with all the participants of the fencing tournament. It will be an early night (hopefully) as I fence the next day.

Sunday morning it's the Bill Hall 10th Annual Vet's Challenge, where I get to fence with kids my own age. I have the men's individual tournament at 10am and the team at 1pm. After that, I head to the airport and fly home. If all goes well, I should be walking through the door greeting Teena and the kids by 10:15pm.

Monday is a quiet day at home, thank God!.

There will be posts and pictures.

Hope everyone enjoys the last official weekend of summer!
