My dad passed away when I was just 17 and my sister was 14, so it all fell on my mother's shoulder. I know how hard it was for her to raise us by herself from there.
She is 82 now and still going strong.
We met at Denny's in Belleville for brunch and afterward was heading off to a Jamboree in Marmora. Tomorrow night is bingo night, where has been on a winning streak lately ... $122 last Monday.
I was happy and proud to give her the gold medal that I won yesterday as part of her Mother's Day present. She has a package coming from me for Mother's Day as when I sent it I didn't know that we would be getting together.
It was fun getting together as we don't get a chance to do that too often.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
