At the Toronto Marlies, Charlotte Checkers Hockey Game

Tonight my buddy Roger and I headed over to Ricoh Coliseum to watch the Toronto Marlies, the Maple Leafs farm club, take on the Charlotte Checkers the farm team of the Carolina Hurricanes in AHL action. Going into the game, Toronto was in first place in the North Division.

I like Ricoh Coliseum as it is not only close to home, but tickets prices are quite reasonable for a level of hockey just below NHL caliber plus there is not a bad seat in the house. Here is the opening face-off.

It was a very tight game with Charlotte scoring first in the opening period, but Toronto came back with a goal of their own to finish the first period tied one all.

Toronto scored in the second to take a one goal advantage into the third. During the period there was a dandy fight.

Roger and I were cheering for Toronto to put in an insurance goal in the third but Charlotte popped in a goal in the opening minutes instead to tie the game at two all.

It was a good tight game, which Toronto finally won with a goal with a little over six minutes to go in the game. It was a good game and fun night and I hope to go to another game or two before the season ends.

Here are a few more pictures.
