Today I decided to buy myself a gift ... a Canon PowerShot SX30 IS.
The PowerShot SX30 IS has got you prepared for your next extreme photo opportunity. This point-and-shoot digital camera comes with a massive 35x Wide-Angle (24-840mm) Optical Zoom lens - a first for any PowerShot! It also comes with a 2.7-inch Vari-angle LCD, 14.1 Megapixels, High Dynamic Range, Zoom Framing Assist and much more.
I was heading down to Blacks in the concourse below where I work to check out a Nikon with a 35x zoom. The zoom intrigued me as well as the fact it has a view finder which I will find handy as when I don't have my glasses on, I see a blurry image on the LCD screen. One thing I read about the Nikon which disturbed me was if the lens cap was left on when turning on the camera, the motor would grind.
Knowing myself as I do, that would happen more than once.
By the time I hit the bottom of the escalator I had talked myself out of it. I would just ensure I always had my good glasses with me and I would save some bucks by not buying new camera.
Looking wouldn't hurt, though.
So I walked into Blacks and just above the Nikon, which was $30 off, was a Canon PowerShot SX30 IS It had the 35x zoom, was the same price as the Nikon and was $130 off! I already own a Canon and love it. It has a 12x zoom. This one has a 35x zoom.
Did I mention that? Did I mention the 35x zoom?
Yes, it came home with me.
I don't usually buy myself new things and am quite good at talking myself out of stuff.
In this case, the 35x lens won out over cheapness.
