I was in the refrigerator section of my local LCBO to check out German beers and came across Warsteiner Premium Dunkel.
Dunkel?? What the heck is a Dunkel??
Had to give it a try!!
I did some quick research and found that Dunkel is a traditional style dark beer brewed in Munich and popular throughout Bavaria. Dunkels are produced using Munich malts which give the Dunkel its colour. Other malts or flavours may also be added. Warsteiner Premium Dunkel is Warsteiner's second most popular beer.
I have had some extremely awful malt beers in my past and would have skipped this one had I know it contained malt. Glad I didn't as it is an exceptionally great tasting beer. It is dark in color with a full body and delicious aroma. It weighs in at 4.8% alcohol and, according to the LCBO website, has a sugar content of 3. Only $2.15 for a 500ml can too.
Not only will I be buying this again but it will likely become a regular member of our fridge's beer shelf. Up until now Grolsch was my favorite international beer. Now after having a couple of cans of the Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, I'm unsure. It sure will be fun deciding.
