Teena and I hit the Magnotta Winery in Beamsville where they do their winemaking and have an outlet store. We skipped the tour as we had done it a few times in the past. That gave us a chance to talk to one of the hostesses who explained Magnotta's International Series of wines.
She seemed especially pleased with Magnotta's Chilean blends. Magnotta owns vineyards in Chile (a place that is high on my list of countries to visit) and ships in the juice from their to blend into an authentic Chilean wine.
We tried samples of a nasty red wine and a VQA Rielsing which was nice. We also tried a Vidal Icewine, which was good and an excellent Rielsing Icewine.
OK, by now you must have guessed I'm a Riesling fan, one of the reasons that I brought home an 8 litre box of Magnotta Medium Dry Rielsing. Although not VQA, at $60 a box, is a great deal value for a nice tasting wine.
Might have some while I BBQ tonight!

Since the box is gone, I can attest to the fact that we liked it!
