Against the Grain on Canada Day

Canada Day for Teena and I is usually spent down by the water and this year was no different. We heard of a new pub and patio which was newly opened at the bottom of Jarvis street behind the Corus Building called Against the Grain Urban Tavern. We heard it had great food and an excellent selection of beers on draught and in bottles.

It was a fabulous sunny day for Canada day. Usually is. When we arrived the large patio was nearly full. We could not get a table but we could use the couches or chairs, which we found to be a much better idea.

Natasha was our server and looked after us really well. I discovered that there were no lies told about the beer selection and the food we saw roll out from the kitchen was in good portions and looked really good. We decided to go for something munchie, so we had Baja Roasted Chicken Nachos (melted Cheddar and Jack cheeses, bell peppers and red onions on a bed of crispy tortilla chips, served with salsa sauce, fresh avocado relish and chilli scented sour cream) Both Teena and I really enjoyed it.
We loved the view from the patio.
The inside is clean and spacious but it was the patio which we sought. We will be back this summer for sure. There are more dishes and more beer which I would like to try.
