Digging Toronto's Past - 3rd Update

At 621 King St West in Toronto, the old Travelodge Motel was torn down to make way for condos.

While excavating the site, old foundations have been uncovered. A worker told me that they were from circa 1855 but I cannot confirm this and believe me I have been looking.

It is interesting how the dig is going. I first wrote about it on May 22, did an update on May 26 and my last one on June 2. Progress has been slow but interesting.

Above we have the area that had the well or cistern. Whoever is doing the dig has removed the west side of the well wall.

Below is the well looking from above. Yes, I did get in. The well goes down about another 3 feet (1 meter) but could be deeper if more digging is done.

Looking west. The wall just below the red flag is the back of the well wall.
And some more views of the foundations so far exposed. I hope to be able to write more about this in the future.

It should be interesting to see what it was.
