Supper at Pizzateria, Mont-Tremblant
Last year Teena and I had a terrific lunch at Pizzateria. We couldn't eat it all and took half of it home. Today, after a day of snowshoeing, we went back for more. I wasn't disappointed. It was every bit as great as last year!.
It was a freezing walk down to the restaurant so we started with a great spiced hot wine.
It was very nice and warming. Just a note here ... temperatures dropped below -30C. We were sitting on a closed-in patio with heaters and the heaters could not keep up and kept on blowing out the breakers. Some people made a big fuss about that, especially the kids who likely have been out in the cold all day. We didn't have a problem with it.
Here's my all dressed pizza. It was just as fabulous as I remembered it ... so much so there wasn't any to take back to the room!
I had a couple of Boreale IPAs to go with it after the wine. They were so tasty and hoppy. This is the only place that serves this. I have written about it before.
Anytime we're in Mont-Tremblant, we will always find out way here!
Snowshoeing the Summit of Mont-Tremblant
Of all the reasons Teena and I came to Mont-Tremblant, the main one was to go snowshoeing. It was freezing cold this morning when we took the gondola up to the summit. This is without the windchill and there was a good wind blowing!
It is about a five minute gondola ride to the top. As you can see, the village is very proud of alpine world cup skier and home town boy Eric Guay, who now has won more world cup medals than any other Canadian.
It's cold up at the top of the mountain! The second picture is looking down the mountain. At the time, there was a frost haze in the air. That's why you see nothing behind it!
Teena and I on the trail. The light kept changing during the day which is why there is a difference in the colour quality.
Lots of frozen snow filled trees. It was beautiful and more stunning than these pictures.
We found some frozen berries along the trail. The only color in a snow covered land.
Onward to yonder tower!
Objective reached!
Yet another tower? Teena sure looks cold.
Yet another tower reached!
Looking back at where we started from.
Back on the trail.
Some more winter pictures.
After a great day it's back down on the gondola.
It was a sensational day!
Welcoming in 2014!
Teena and I are at Mont-Tremblant for New Years and we got lucky. Our room faces onto the side of the mountain where the fireworks show takes place. We could watch from our balcony, champagne in hand! We also have a door that opens up from the living room. Here's Teena enjoying the fireworks from there.
Although only 7 minutes long, it was great. The crowd at the base of the mountain enjoyed it. We could hear the oohs, aws and cheering from our balcony.
And afterwards what's better than a nice bubbly by the fire?
Happy New Years and I wish a hell of a great year ahead for everyone!

New Years Eve Dinner at Microbrasserie La Diable
Tonight Teena and I had supper at Microbrasserie La Diable in the Mont-Tremblant ski resort. We have been there before, actually a few times, and have always enjoyed it. Tonight was no exception. When we arrived earlier, there was a long line but when we returned a few hours later we had no problem in getting a seat.
This is one of those places where I am there as much for the beer as the food. There were a couple of Belgium style ales which were their beer of the month but I wanted hops so when I asked our server, he recommended the Golden Pale Ale, a British bitter style ale. The lighting wasn't good so I could not get a decent picture of it, but it was good enough that I had two more.
Teena and I both ordered the fish and chips, which claimed to be a half pound (.225 KG) of haddock. They weren't lying and it was delicious!
There is a cool drawing showing how the brewing set-up is done for the pub.
Afterwards we hit an outdoor New Years celebration with a DJ and dancers.
Afterwards it was back to the room for a couple of drinks while relaxing and waiting for the midnight fireworks show.
La Diable will always be a stop for us whenever we are here.
